Created by RSN Tutor and Studio Embroiderer Matthew Cayton, this kit will show you how to embroider and make a striking and useful box.

Following the instructions you will learn how to create shading through a blackwork pattern using threads of varying thicknesses and increasing and decreasing the stitches through a beautiful repeated blackwork pattern panel which will form the lid. The embroidered box will have an internal shelf and overlapping lid.

This kit shows you the techniques required to construct and embroider your box, including how to accurately cut and measure card for box making, two methods for covering card, and how to stitch together your box pieces.

The kit includes all the materials you will need to make the box including full skeins and reels of the threads. Which means, once you’ve finished your box: not only will you have the perfect place to keep your threads together, you’ll be good to go on your next Blackwork project.

You will also need a 6” embroidery hoop, embroidery scissors, scissors suitable for cutting fabric, a sharp craft knife, ruler (preferably metal at least 20 cm) and a cutting mat/board.
