View map
£135.00
Reticello is an Italian style of embroidery which dates from the 15th century.
This intermediate level class will start by stitching the 4-sided stitch outline, followed by removing threads from the fabric to form a grid onto which the design will be stitched. Two of the basic Reticello stitches will be used to stitch this design – Buttonhole stitch (Punto Festone) and wrapping bars (Punto Cordoncino).
Ideally the student will have some previous experience of counted thread techniques which include the removal of threads.
Some prior experience of counted thread techniques would be advisable for this intermediate level class.
The class kit will include everything you require to complete the project. You may like to bring your own embroidery scissors and you will be able to borrow ring frames, magnifiers and lights (if needed) on the day.
If you have enjoyed this class you may wish to consider one of the other Whitework classes being taught by Nicola.
You can explore many more stitches on the RSN Stitch Bank.
