In this kit you can make a stylish Heron design, embroidered in 4 Metalwork techniques over a layer of craft felt and soft string padding.

The bird is embroidered with silver plated threads in a variety of stitches including Couching, Or Nue (couching with a colour) and Cutwork, all traditional skills in this beautiful style of embroidery. Colour is also introduced in the wing using silk covered metal threads.

Clear illustrated instructions will guide you through this hand embroidery project, which once completed can be mounted and hung in the little wooden hoop provided (optional).

The finished bird embroidery measures approximately 8x9cm, and the wooden hoop is 11cm diameter.

All kits are designed by Becky Hogg Embroidery and produced in the U.K.

Suitable for all levels of ability, but not suitable for children.

“My interest in Embroidery was ignited in my early 20’s, after completing my textile degree at Loughborough Art college. With a passion to further my knowledge of historical textiles and embroidery I embarked upon a 3 year apprenticeship at the Royal School of Needlework , Hampton Court Palace.
The practical skills and proffesional practice acquired during my studies covered all aspects of hand embroidery, and now form an important of my work today.

Working for over 20 years as a professional hand embroiderer I now specialise in metal thread embroidery (Goldwork). The textures, jewellery like finish and the good old fashioned sparkle hold endless inspiration for me as an embroidery designer.”
