This dimensional hand embroidered brooch has been created as a reminder of a trip to the seaside. The 4cm brooch depicts the shells and small creatures that you might find clustered around a pool of water left behind as the tide recedes. It also reminds us of the fragility of nature, reefs, and these small creatures.
The embroidery has been worked in a variety of techniques including Pulled Work, and a multitude of raised elements are created using Stumpwork techniques and simple stitches. Students will be using pearls, beads, shells and a variety of threads and stitches to create texture and dimension.
The finished brooch is 4cm across, and is worked on cream evenweave linen.
The class will be split over two afternoon sessions, a week apart, to allow for time to stitch at your own pace in between.
Your kit will include all required threads, shells and beads, along with the fabric, needles, and the wooden brooch backing. Written instructions on how to work all elements and finish the brooch are also included in the kit.
The class kit will be posted out to you. Your kit includes all the materials required to complete this design. The only only additional items you will need are a 6” hoop, a pair embroidery scissors and it would be useful to have a pencil and paper in case you wish to take extra notes.
