RSN Tutor, and author of the RSN Essential Stitch Guide to Crewelwork, Jacqui McDonald expands on her 'Technical Tuesday - Crewelwork' course with 'Technical Tuesday - Crewelwork Progression'.
This course is perfect for anyone who would like to progress their Crewelwork technique within their own design. The design outline will act as a sampler in which to practice and improve your stitches.
This course is runs over three terms of ten weeks each and is aimed at students who have already completed Jacqui's 'Technical Tuesday - Crewelwork' course.
Term One will run from 1pm - 3pm UK on the following ten Tuesdays:
September 23, 30
October 7, 14, 21 (no class on 28)
November 4, 11, 18, 25
December 2

Jacqui will help you adapt and perfect the following:
- Create an individual and achievable design outline in the Jacobean style.
- Create a stitch plan to include texture and dimension.
- Choose a colour palette.
- Draft a plan with a well balanced distribution of colour, light and shade.
- Insert Linen into the frame to create a taught working surface.
- Tailor filling, outline and embellishment stitches to fit the multiform shapes you have created.
- Mount the finished embroidery by stretching over thick card ready for your framer.
Your design will be worked in the traditional mediums of crewel wool on linen twill fabric in a free colour palette of your choice.
There will be plenty of opportunity during the class to ask the Tutor questions on your individual design as the number will be limited to 8 students.
In advance of the class all preparation information will be emailed to you along with an invitation to join the class on the day.
This class is suitable for all levels, everything you require to complete the project is listed bellow:

- Linen Twill (50cm x 50cm)
- Cotton webbing tape
- String
- Curved Needle
- Buttonhole thread
- Size 24 needles Chenille & Tapestry and Size 5 Embroidery
You will also need:
- Appleton Crewel wools (We can order mid term 1)
- Glass headed pins
- Bracing needle
- A sharp pencil
- A4 paper
- A note book in case you wish to take extra notes
- Grey watercolour paint
- Fine paintbrush
- Tracing paper
- Tissue paper
- Pricker
- Pounce
- Mount board
- Calico
- Glue
