15 DECADES OF EMBROIDERY
The RSN Embroidery Studio has produced a series of 15 kits – one for each of the 15 decades since the founding of the Royal School of Needlework. The kit designs are taken from our archives and have been developed in a range of techniques and levels for embroiderers to enjoy and learn.
Art Deco Deer Tea Cosy – An embroidered Tea Cosy 1920
The Art Deco movement brought a new type of design style to the items the Royal School of Needlework produced in the 1920s. Sharp angles and stylised forms were used to create this simple deer hot water bottle cover design. For this kit we have used the design for a tea cosy, an item close to our hearts as we love and operate on cups of tea and a biscuit. The design has been adapted to add a smaller piece of embroidery on the reverse side so wherever it is placed on the table there will be a side to be admired. The RSN have used eco friendly naturally dyed wools with colours inspired by Clarice Cliff ceramics.
This kit contains everything you need to complete the kit including instruction booklet.
You will need a slate frame or roller frame (minimum 18-inch) and embroidery scissors
