Description
Inspired by one of the treasures of the Royal School of Needlework collection, the 4 panelled crewelwork room screen. The screen has been a source of inspiration for the RSN for many years and is particularly notable for its long and short stitching and trellis work. It is worked on linen twill fabric using crewel wools in many colours, and each panel features a tree of life design with a beautiful bird.
The main feature of this design is the beautiful bird that features in panel four of the original screen. He is surrounded by flowers and leaves that echo those in the other panels.
This is the ideal piece if you want to perfect your long and short stitch and trellis stitch as these are used most often within the design, but you’ll also cover: whipped chain, stem stitch, fishbone, closed fly, french knots and bullion knots.
Suitable for intermediate and advanced stitchers.
Design size – Approx 22cm x 32cm
Equipment needed – embroidery scissors, an 18 inch slate frame, or could work with a 10 inch ring frame but this is not ideal.
You can explore many more stitches on the RSN Stitch Bank.
