This two day introduction class will concentrate on sampling silk shading techniques and then using these to work a small silk shaded design.
On day one we will create a sampler of techniques, focusing on the long and short stitch used for this embroidery. This will include stitch length, blending rows and combining shades. Creating a firm split stitch edge as a foundation for long and short and how to turn angles to achieve flowing designs.
Day two will put the samples into practice, working a small silk shaded flower (approximately 4 cm x 5cm).
The techniques will all be demonstrated in class and written instructions are provided for reference at home. All materials are included to complete the samples and the floral silk shaded design.
