This class is part of the RSN International Summer School 2025

This design is inspired by one of the stars of the Royal School of Needlework collection, the 4 panelled crewelwork room screen. The screen has been a
source of inspiration for RSN students for many years and is particularly notable for its long and short stitching and trellis work. It is worked on linen twill fabric using crewel wools in many colours, and each panel features a tree of life design with a beautiful bird.

Our design has a lovely flower taken from the third panel of the original screen accompanied by a a pretty butterfly. The design is worked on linen twill using
Appletons crewel wools using Long and Short stitch, Trellis stitch, Raised Stem stitch, Stem stitch, Closed Fly, French knots and Bullion knots. A lovely project for those who want to improve their crewelwork stitching.

Equipment needed - embroidery scissors, an 8 inch hoop.

Design size - Approx 12.5cm x 15cm

You can explore many more stitches on the RSN Stitch Bank.
