This class is part of the RSN International Summer School 2025
Based on the RSN's first logo as used in the Handbook of Embroidery 1880. The font style is Carolingian, which references the Victorian Arts & Crafts ethos of harking back to craftmanship excellence in earlier centuries. Inclusion of the word "Art' reflected the determination to elevate hand embroidery to the status of fine art. The 'Art' was dropped in 1920.
Technique is Tapestry Silk Shading with couched edges and padded satin dots on Irish linen fabric with a mixture of DMC metallic threads and DMC variegated threads.
Finished embroidery is 19cm x 11cm (approx) To be worked in a 10" hoop.
