This class is part of the RSN International Summer School 2025

This shiny and sparkly peacock design was inspired by a 1920’s compact mirror that Amanda spotted at an antiques market while on holiday in the Cotswolds, England.

It is stitched using DeVere silk threads and Gutermann metallic threads, and it is suitable for all levels. It introduces you to silk shading with the long and short stitch and you will learn some basic surface stitches such as stem stitch, whipped back stitch, fish bone stitch and fly stitch. You will also learn how to apply kid leather, spangles and jewels.

This is a great introduction to embroidery with the added element of the special threads. Amanda's one tip would be to keep your hands smooth in the run up to this class!

You can explore many more stitches on the RSN Stitch Bank.
