In this two day class we will go through the stages of planning a canvas work project. We will start the class by sampling a range of canvas work stitches from different categories - straight, diagonal, surface, cross etc. We will also include examples of varied scales, textures and shading plans, stitch plans and orders of work. To do this we will use some pre-prepared simple designs suitable for the technique. Information about sources of threads will be available and there will be a demonstration of design transfer. At the end of the class participants will have samples of both stitches and plans for future reference, have confidence in their ability to plan a piece of canvas work and an understanding of canvas work good practice. The course is intended for those with no or little experience of canvas work. There is no set design. All materials will be provided.
