RSN Embroidery Studio: Early Art Nouveau Butterfly Brooch Embroidery Kit

£120.00

15 DECADES OF EMBROIDERY
The RSN Embroidery Studio has produced a series of 15 kits - one for each of the 15 decades since the founding of the Royal School of Needlework. The kit designs are taken from our archives and have been developed in a range of techniques and levels for embroiderers to enjoy and learn.
Early Art Nouveau Butterfly Brooch Embroidery Kit
A beautifully detailed embroidery kit creating a truly wearable piece of art, inspired by an original painted fire screen design from the archives of the Royal School of Needlework.
The flowing curves and organic lines of the design reflect the elegance of the Art Nouveau style, which influenced not only embroidery but also architecture, glass, ceramics, and jewellery during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Faithful to the original colour palette, this design has been thoughtfully reinterpreted using a contemporary combination of surface stitches, metal thread work, and delicate beading, replacing the appliqué technique of the original piece.
A rich variety of stitches brings texture and movement to the butterfly, including closed fly stitch, Cretan stitch, fishbone stitch, heavy chain stitch, satin stitch, split stitch, Van Dyke stitch, and woven and whipped wheels—making this both an engaging and rewarding project.
Stitches include Closed Fly Stitch, Cretan Stitch, Fishbone Stitch, Heavy Chain, Satin Stitch, Split Stitch, Van Dyke Stich, Woven and Whipped wheels.
This kit contains everything you need to complete the kit including instruction booklet.
Measurement Approximately 7.5 x 8cm
Designed and created by RSN Studio Hampton Court Palace, UK
Not suitable for young children, kit contains sharp needle and small parts
The RSN Embroidery Studio has been at the heart of the Royal School of Needlework since it was founded in 1872. It is renowned for its exquisite hand embroidery for a range of clients including interior designers, fashion houses and private clients.
