Description
Late Art Nouveau Family Tree 1890
This embroidered rose tree is typical of the type of work the RSN was producing in the 1890s. Art Nouveau was an international art style which used flowing sinuous lines and shapes to represent naturalistic forms. The RSN produced large scale embroideries such as the ones illustrated as door or room curtains and room screens. Originally this design may have been embroidered in silks or wools depending on the clients specifications. This rose tree design has been updated to included areas for family names to be embroidered amongst the roots.
