Cutwork Masterclass with Amy Burt
£210.00
This masterclass is designed to give students a solid technical grounding, focusing on precision, control, and understanding materials rather than completing a finished design. Cutwork is often a technique that students dread, while it is one of my favourite aspects of goldwork embroidery.
The course is structured as follows:
Part One focuses on soft string padding, covering both straight and curved forms.
Part Two explores straight cutwork using smooth purl and bright check.
Part Three introduces angled cutwork using smooth and rough purl.
Students will work on samples throughout the course, allowing them to concentrate fully on technique and problem-solving. Some independent practice between sessions may be required to support skill development.
This masterclass is suitable for students with some prior embroidery experience who are keen to develop their technical skills in goldwork. It is particularly well suited to those interested in historical embroidery, textile embellishment, or specialist hand embroidery techniques.
Students will need to bring:
-Yellow soft string padding
- Gutterman sew-all thread in Ochre
- Smooth Purl
- Rough Purl
- Bright Check
- Bees Wax
- Embroidery Needles size 12 & 10
