This 2 day course will look at many of the stitches and techniques used in traditional crewel work embroidery. Using 2ply appleton wools in shades of blue, red, pink, and brown on a background of linen twill, the students will practice their skills on a traditional Jacobean inspired design of a bird of paradise.
The stitches taught in this two day class include trellis, long and short, satin stitch, seeding, french knots, split stitch, stem stitch, chain stitch, buttonhole stitch and herringbone to name a few.
This class would be suitable for all skill levels, those who are new to the technique would have plenty of guidance and would be able to participate fully and those who are a little more advanced would have scope to develop their skills and to stretch themselves.
