This two-day course will explore many of the stitches and techniques used in traditional crewel work embroidery. Using 2ply Appleton crewel wools in shades of blue, pink and brown on a background of linen twill, the students will practise their skills on a beautiful chaffinch garden bird design.
The stitches taught in this two day class include trellis with decorative fly stitch, satin stitch, seeding, french knots, split stitch, stem stitch, chain stitch, buttonhole stitch, blanket stitch and pistil stitch.
The class kit will include all of the fabrics, threads, needles and other materials needed to complete the
project.
This class would be suitable for all skill levels, those who are new to the technique would have plenty of
guidance and would be able to participate fully and those who are a little more advanced would have scope to develop their skills and to stretch themselves.
