The Strawberry Thief design celebrates the technique of metal thread embroidery. With a combination of silk covered purls and fine metal wire threads the Strawberry Thief embroidery kit is a translation of the Morris print, in its original colour palate.

Learn how to embroider with a variety of metal threads in rows, loops and zig zags to create texture and pattern in this beautiful design, all finished off with a freshly stolen strawberry

Strawberry Thief was first produced in 1883 and was inspired by William Morris’s observation of the thrushes creeping under the strawberry nets to steal the fruit in the garden of his Oxfordshire home, Kelmscott Manor. It remains one of his most popular designs today.

Once complete the embroidery can be mounted into a 10cm diameter wooden hoop ready to display.

Kit includes – Wooden hoop, linen, cotton sewing threads, suede, silk covered metal threads,  metal purl threads, needles and instructions, all packaged in a stylish hand screen printed gift box to keep everything safe.

This kit is suitable for all levels, but not advisable for children as it contains sharp objects and small parts

About Becky

"My interest in Embroidery was ignited in my early 20’s, after completing my textile degree at Loughborough Art college. With a passion to further my knowledge of historical textiles and embroidery I embarked upon a 3 year apprenticeship at the Royal School of Needlework , Hampton Court Palace.
The practical skills and proffesional practice acquired during my studies covered all aspects of hand embroidery, and now form an important of my work today.

Working for over 20 years as a professional hand embroiderer I now specialise in metal thread embroidery (Goldwork). The textures, jewellery like finish and the good old fashioned sparkle hold endless inspiration for me as an embroidery designer."
