Description
This series of embroidery kits for all levels, charts a year in flowers. Although each kit depicts a flower that is associated with a particular month, the numerous symbolic meanings extend far beyond the month with which it is connected.
Within numerous cultures, flowers hold symbolic meanings, featuring in folk tales and as decorations for celebrations and festivities. In addition, certain flowers often hold personal significance, capturing a memory of a person or a place.
The rose is the flower of June. The precise symbolism of the rose varies depending on the colour and variety, but universally it is a symbol of love. Wild roses are species of rose that occur naturally and are not cultivated. They grow in hedgerows and on the edges of woodlands.
This embroidery kit provides an introduction to a variety of surface stitches. You will learn split stitch, satin stitch, long and short, pistil stitch and French knots. The design is worked using a selection of vibrant stranded cottons on a natural-coloured linen.
The kit includes:
- Instruction booklet
- Linen with printed design
- Calico backing fabric
- 3 × stranded cotton threads
- 5”/13 cm hoop
- 2 × chenille 24 needle
You will also need embroidery scissors
The finished design measures 7.5 cm x 8 cm.
