RSN EXCLUSIVE Native Wildflower: Elderberry By Natalie Rowe
We are very excited to stock the second of Natalie’s wildflower series.
This design depicts the striking elderberry, famous for its delicate clouds of white blossom, which turn to vivid bright pink stems and luscious dark berries in autumn.
This embroidery kit provides an introduction to a variety of surface stitches that create bold outlines, patterns and textures. You will learn split stitch, Cretan stitch, fly stitch, knotted pearl stitch, stem stitch, woven wheels and heavy chain stitch .
Stitched on pale-peach Essex linen, this design uses a selection of vibrant cotton and silk threads.
You will need an 8-inch/20-cm embroidery hoop and embroidery scissors.

• Instruction booklet
• Peach Essex linen with design
• Calico backing fabric
• 3 needles
• 5 skeins of stranded cotton thread
• 3 reels of silk thread
The finished design measures 12.5 cm x 12.5 cm.
Natalie Rowe is a RSN Tutor, having graduated from the RSN’s Future Tutor Programme in 2022. Natalie draws on the natural world, art history, traditional hand embroidery techniques and her training as an illustrator to create contemporary designs.
