This two day introduction class to shaded blackwork will include sampling as well as working a finished design in the technique.
Day one will introduce the counted patterns used for this embroidery technique as well as a chance to work with different thicknesses of thread, essential to create shading. Alongside straight band samplers of the patterns, we will also look at breaking up patterns to create a shape.
Day two will put the sampling into practice, working a shaded design of a button, approximately 5 cm x 5cm. Throughout we will be working on even weave fabric.
The techniques will be demonstrated in class and written instructions are provided for reference at home. All materials are included to complete the samples and the shaded design.
