This class is designed as an introduction to the beautiful Goldwork technique of Or Nué, where coloured threads are couched over gold to create colourful patterns and designs. No previous experience of goldwork is necessary, but some experience of embroidery is advisable.
Inspired by childhood trips to the seaside. The design is worked in shades of green teal stranded cotton with Gold Pearl purl and Passing thread, on a deep green teal shot Silk Dupion. Students will learn Or Nué, as well as working with Pearl Purl, Spangles, and surface stitches such as Coral Stitch. The finished design is approximately 9x9cm (3.5x3.5 inches).
