During this three day course learn how to create and combine the embroidery techniques of Needle Painting, Metal Thread Work, Stumpwork and Blackwork to produce this beautiful Koala design. Printed onto high quality linen fabric, the design is reminiscent of a page from a vintage book of Australiana Flora and Fauna.
This simple but striking design will introduce you to many of the stitches which are key to creating these beautiful techniques. Full instruction will be provided on the following: Silk Shading, Needle Painting and shaded turkey rug stitch to create the Koala, creative coloured metal thread stitches including s-ing, chipping and cutwork to create the tree trunk and leaves, shaded blackwork using colour for the background and Stumpwork embroidery including 3D wired embroidery and thread wrapped wires to create the leaves, flower buds and stems.
You will be provided with a class kit including all of the materials and printed fabrics required to complete this stunning hand embroidery design.
You can explore many more stitches on the RSN Stitch Bank.
The class kit will include everything you require to complete the project. You may like to bring your own embroidery scissors and you will be able to borrow ring frames, magnifiers and lights (if needed) on the day.
