Join Helen McCook, RSN Tutor and author of the RSN Essential Stitch Guide to Goldwork, online for Technical Tuesdays as she introduces you to all the major Goldwork techniques.

Goldwork has been used for celebration, ostentation and ceremonial purposes across many cultures for centuries. No other embroidery technique speaks so clearly of luxury, quality and heritage. It can be employed to create both contemporary and traditional designs.

This course is aimed at the beginner embroiderer and runs over three terms. Each term consisting of ten sessions of two hour tutor time online taught lessons.

Helen will guide you through padding, couching, chipping, cutwork and other decorative Goldwork techniques plus how to plan and work a Goldwork project (there will be a choice of three designs to work from in term 3). Each lesson will introduce you to a new technique or aspect of the technique.

Technique feedback will be available during the teaching sessions online along with tips and tricks to make your progress easier.

Apart from creating a very useful sampler which you can use as a learning tool, you will create a beautiful piece which you can refer to when you create future dazzling pieces of Goldwork with the knowledge, skills and confidence that this course will help you to build.

The RSN has developed this approach through many years of apprenticeships and is continued in the current Future Tutors/Professional Embroidery Tutor programmes.

The course is aimed at the beginner embroiderer and runs over three terms (of ten weeks each). Fees are termly and decrease with each term you take if you pre-book: £448first term (including kit), £418 second term (including kit) and £316 third term (including kit).

A kit is included which contains all the materials you will need and will be posted out to you. You will also need a 24" slate frame or a 24" hand rotating frame either of which can be purchased via the RSN Shop.
