This one-day hand embroidery workshop is led by embroidery artist Eliza Gomersall and explores the creation of a detailed botanical moth design inspired by nature and fantasy, reflecting the artists signature style. The moth incorporates delicate botanical motifs within the wings, blending floral elements with the elegant structure of the insect form. Using fine materials and considered colour palettes, traditional embroidery techniques are combined in contemporary ways. The Botanist’s moth has a strong focus on craftmanship and a design that feels both timeless and fresh. Basic embroidery experience is helpful, though techniques are demonstrated and supported throughout the day. Students will have the option to choose from a variety of colour ways so their design can feel personal. All materials are provided in the kit including reference materials, such as a stitch plan and key, to support stitching during the workshop and to use at home afterwards. Demonstrations may be photographed or filmed for personal reference. As this is a one-day workshop, the design will already be transferred onto the fabric and prepared in an embroidery hoop, allowing everyone to begin stitching straight away and make the most of the time. There is no pressure to finish the piece during the workshop. The focus is on learning techniques and enjoying the process. Eliza is happy to provide supplier information for those who wish to purchase any of the tools and equipment used during the workshop.
