This striking design offers a good variety of embroidery techniques including silk shading, surface stitches and goldwork. This course covers applying fabric, silk shading, surface stitches, felt padding, couching metal threads, plunging and tying back ends, chips & applying spangles.
The design is inspired by ecclesiastical designs on altar frontals with scrolling lines and shaded flora and is worked using gilt metal threads and stranded cottons on a rich red silk dupion fabric.
