Description
This series of embroidery kits for all levels, charts a year in flowers. Although each kit depicts a flower that is associated with a particular month, the numerous symbolic meanings extend far beyond the month with which it is connected.
Within numerous cultures, flowers hold symbolic meanings, featuring in folk tales and as decorations for celebrations and festivities. In addition, certain flowers often hold personal significance, capturing a memory of a person or a place.
The marigold is the flower of October, its vibrant flowers reminiscent of autumnal colours. Marigolds appear as a symbol in a number of different cultures, their golden blooms used in place of gold coins or providing a source of light in festivals of remembrance.
This embroidery kit provides an introduction to a variety of surface stitches. You will learn heavy chain stitch, detached chain stitch, fishbone stitch and split stitch. The design is worked using a selection of vibrant stranded cottons on a natural-coloured linen.
