Please note this is an onsite class which will run from 11am-5pm in The Spencer-Churchill Room, Blenheim Palace, Woodstock OX20 1PP.

Join us for an RSN Experience class at Blenheim Palace to stitch a beautiful Stumpwork Rose and enjoy a private Curator's tour of the acclaimed Icons of British Fashion exhibition.  The exhibition features a line-up of world-class designers and labels, with each fashion house taking over one of the significant rooms in the Palace.

During the class,  you will learn all the steps to embroider this stunning sweet briar rose design using a mix of raised work techniques  which include wired shapes and silk wrapped purls plus simple embroidery stitches to create the leaves.

RSN Tutor, Helen Jones, says “I love raised work embroidery, both historic and contemporary and this class is an opportunity for others to share in my enthusiasm. The design is also a perfect compliment to the  exhibition."

Your class kit (included in the cost of the course) will include everything you require to complete the project. You may like to bring your own embroidery scissors and magnifiers if you need them, but you will be able to borrow ring frames and scissors on the day.

You will also be treated to a highlights tour of Icons of British Fashion with Curator, Kate Ballenger. Each space along the visitor route in the 300-year-old Palace will pay homage to a British fashion icon starting in the Great Hall with designs on display by the late Dame Vivienne Westwood and creative partner Andreas Kronthaler.

The exhibition celebrates fashion from the past through to the present day and will feature bespoke designs and loans from some huge names in the fashion world including Bruce Oldfield, Jean Muir, Lulu Guinness, Stella McCartney and Stephen Jones Millinery for Christian Dior.

Joining Instructions:

Registration commences at 10.45am.

Food and drink (other than bottled water) may not be consumed in the classroom, but you may bring a packed lunch or visit one of the Palace's cafés and restaurants.
