Inspired by the beautiful flowers often seen in medieval manuscripts, the central Violet is worked in shades of purple silk thread, with gold Passing thread and silver Japanese thread, on Red edge linen. The finished design in
approximately 7x7cm (3x3 inches).

The class will take place over two days at Hampton Court Palace. With the first day focusing on Split stitch shading and Underside couching, continuing with Underside couching on the second day, and finishing with Or Nué and
other surface details.

The kit contains, instructions, threads, needles and fabric with the design already drawn on. A 6-inch hoop, scissors and thimbles will be provided, but students are welcome to bring a basic sewing kit of their own.

The class kit will include everything you require to complete the project. You may like to bring your own embroidery scissors and you will be able to borrow ring frames, magnifiers and lights (if needed) on the day.

You can explore many more stitches on the RSN Stitch Bank.
