In this three session online Metal and Silk thread embroidery course join Becky to create the iconic Strawberry Thief Thrush from one of Morris’s most popular designs.
Strawberry Thief was first produced in 1883 and was inspired by William Morris’s observation of the thrushes creeping under the strawberry nets to steal the fruit in the garden of his Oxfordshire home, Kelmscott Manor.
Embroidered in a variety of silk wrapped purls, fine wire purls and glossy cords, discover how to work with these specialist threads to produce texture and decorative surfaces.
Learn how to make your own piece of the pattern and finish it off with a freshly stolen strawberry to complete the design!
During the 3 online sessions Becky will guide you step by step through this project using a mixture of live demonstrations, videos and images to equip you with all you need for the best results. In addition, a specific WhatsApp group will be set up enabling a live chat in, and after each session. Here, images can also be uploaded of ‘work in progress’ where Becky can give instant feedback and advice.
The finished embroidery measures approximately 9x7cm
The class kit will be posted out to you. Your kit includes everything you need including a full colour, step by step instruction booklet. The only things you’ll need are an 8" ring frame and embroidery scissors. It would be useful to have a pencil and paper in case you wish to take extra notes.
