In this online 3 session ‘silk and metal thread embroidery’ course join Becky and learn the skills of this beautiful hand embroidery technique.
The Green Woodpecker embroidery captures this beautiful bird with its vibrant lime and earthy moss greens, embroidered in a variety of silk covered plates, fine wire purls and glossy cords. Discover how to work with these specialist threads to produce texture and decorative surfaces.
You will be guided step by step through this project with clear video demonstrations and screen shared images, supported by an illustrated instruction booklet that comes with your Green woodpecker kit. In addition, a specific WhatsApp group will be set up to enable the sharing of work in progress images and for the tutor to give instant feedback during the class.
The finished embroidery measures approx 9x6cm
Kit includes – Wooden hoop, linen, cotton backing fabric, cotton sewing threads, suede, silk covered metal threads, metal purl threads, needles and instructions, beeswax, all packaged in a stylish hand screen printed gift box to keep everything safe.
This workshop is suitable for all levels, but not advisable for children.
Additional equipment required for the workshop (not included)- 6 or 8 inch embroidery hoop with a stand, embroidery scissors, an awl or mellor (goldwork tool).
Your Zoom link will be sent a minimum of 48 hours prior to the class and will be sent to the email address you booked the class with. If you do not receive it, check your junk mail to see if it is there and if you still do not have it then please email [email protected]
The class kit will be posted out to you. Your kit includes everything you need including a wooden hoop. The only things you’ll need are a pair embroidery scissors and it would be useful to have a pencil and paper in case you wish to take extra notes.
