ONL25310 Designing for Blackwork
£139.00
Blackwork is a good technique to continue your embroidery journey with and is the second module you could undertake at the RSN as part of the Certificate programme. Equally this design day would be perfect for those who wish to extend their embroidery skills into producing their own unique design. This class is the second in a series of technique led design days.
Blackwork is a historic technique that has been developed by the RSN to become a form of tonal stitching. The technique uses a variety of geometric patterns in one colour which enables dramatic effects to be created. We will start by looking at the history of Blackwork. You will then explore the technical elements of how to break down an image and produce the relevant guides and tonal drawings necessary to help plan which patterns to use in order to create the required shading.
This course is accompanied by an informative Blackwork book "50 Blackwork Patterns: Book 1" which will be sent out to you.
