This class is part of the RSN International Summer School 2024
This is an in person class and takes place at The Sayre School, Lexington, Kentucky, USA The class runs over three days from Saturday 13 to Monday 15 July 2024: 10am - 4pm (EST).
This class is designed to give you a taster of four different techniques over the courseof three days, perfect for the beginner to the more advanced stitcher. The three Ivy leaves and stems allow for separate techniques to be worked individually to create a cohesive piece. Starting with a coloured Blackwork pattern, fine White work, Silk Shading and Goldwork. This beautiful project is worked on a 50 TPI/CT white linen with a light green backing fabric to support the later techniques.
The design idea for this piece was inspired by a photograph taken on one of the long school walks with my sons after a storm which dislodged this piece exactly as you see onto our path. It instantly reminding me of the scientific drawing you see in reference books, and I knew I would use it for inspiration one day especially as the only great Aunt I was able to know was called Ivy.
Over the three days you will learn: one coloured Blackwork pattern, Ladder Stitch (pulled thread), Honeycomb and wave filling pulled thread patterns, Trailing, Long and Short Stitch, String Padding, Couching, Pearl Purl and cutwork over string padding.

The class kit will include everything you require to complete the project. You may like to bring your own embroidery scissors.
