This class is part of the RSN International Summer School 2024

This is an in person  class and takes place at Hampton Court Palace. The class runs over two days from   10 to 11 August  2024 10am - 4pm

This two day course is inspired by a beautiful and fun piece of Raised Embroidery in the RSN Collection. Over two days we will consider the materials, stitches and threads that were used in the 17th century to create raised embroidery. You will stitch the “Oak Tree” using traditional approaches where possible. The course will include Wired Shapes, Padded Shapes, Needlelace Stitches, Long and Short Stitch. In addition, you will learn some little known stitches that give an amazing textural finish and are fun to work such as “Moss” Stitch and “Chenille” Stitch. This course will appeal to those who are interested in historical stitch and its modern application along with those who wish to extend their stitch repertoire.

There will also be the opportunity to view the inspiration piece.

You can explore many more stitches on the RSN Stitch Bank.
