The class takes place from 6pm  to 8.30pm on the following dates:
Monday  1, Tues 2, Weds 3, Thurs 4, Fri 5 July
Monday  8, Tues 9, Weds 10, Thurs 11, Fri 12 July

Please note that the cost includes the necessary kit and tracked postage.

The class will be taught over 10 sessions, with each session focusing on a different goldwork technique. Starting with the different ways of padding the design, followed by how to apply kid leather, Satin stitch and Long & short stitch for adding detail and shading. Working with Pearl Purl, Or nué, applying different types of Twist, Pearls and Spangles, Chipping, Cutwork (including using different metal threads to create subtle shadow on the design) and S-ing. Each session is 2.5 hrs long with a short break in the middle to give plenty of time to focus on each technique.

The design is a great introduction to Goldwork as it contains plenty of repetition to allow you to really get to grips with each of the techniques. Learning how to handle the different types of gold thread such as Smooth and Rough purl, Elizabethan Twist, Bright Check, Grecian and many more. With details worked in brightly coloured silk threads, Pearls, and Spangles on a linen background.

The design is inspired by the royal crowns of medieval Europe. Particularly, the crown of Princess Blanche, daughter of Henry IV of England. Due to the marriage of Princess Blanche to Louis III Elector of Palatine in 1402, the crown was brought with her from England to the Palatinate as part of her dowery. After the English Civil war, Oliver Cromwell ordered the destruction of the English Crown jewels, which could have included the Crown of Princess Blanche had it still been in the country at the time. This, therefore, makes it the oldest surviving royal crown affiliated with England, and it can still be seen in Munich today.
